Recent proposals by the Elected Mayor/Council Manager and Serco seem to suggest that Haywood High School and Engineering College will be closed.

The Parents/Teachers/Friends Association and the Hands off Haywood High Community Group are totally opposed to these proposals for the following reasons:

• this is a caring school with an excellent ethos
• the school is oversubscribed because people in the community choose to send their children there
• a gaping hole will be left in the community
• Ofsted judged the school to be "good" with "outstanding" features
